TAUNTON – Carlos N. Resendes, Sr., husband of Maria C. (Lazaro) Resendes, died unexpectedly at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston on June 6, 2011.
He was 68.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel and Maria (Mello) Resendes.
He attended school in the Azores before moving to the Taunton area in 1969.
An employee of Swanks Inc. in Taunton for twenty-five years, he retired in 2005.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony Church in Taunton.
Mr. Resendes enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid soccer fan.
Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife of forty-two years, he leaves two sons, Peter Resendes and his wife Elizabeth, and Daniel Resendes, all of Taunton; a daughter, Elizabeth M. Resendes of Taunton; a brother, Gilbert Resendes of E. Taunton; five sisters, Evelina Moniz, Otilia Amaral, and Conceicao Dias all of Taunton, Cidalia Silva of New Bedford, and Lurdes Pavao of Tampa, FL; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Carlos N. Resendes, Jr. and the brother of the late Manuel Resendes.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Saturday, June 11th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church, Taunton at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 10th from 5 to 9 p.m.
