Leonida (Tavares) Alexander, age 97, of Fall River passed away June 6, 2011. She was the wife of the late Louis Alexander and the daughter of the late Manuel & Mary (Norizie) Tavares. Prior to retiring, Leonida worked as a Seamstress at the Narragansett Mills and previously for Tic Tock Frocks. She was also a parishioner of St. Michael Church.
Leonida was the mother of the late Robert Louis Alexander Sr.; the sister of the late Manuel “Twee” Tavares Jr., James Tavares Sr., & Avelino “Val” Tavares; the grandmother of Robert Louis Alexander Jr. & Jay Stuart Alexander both of FL, Lynne Alexander of Fall River; 8 great grandchildren; 2 great-great granddaughters; and 13 godchildren.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. SATURDAY here at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church at 9:00 A.M.
