Augenti of Brockton January 31, 2004 James A. Augenti 89 years. Husband of the late Carolyn L. (Vaslet) Augenti. Devoted father of Laurie A. Augenti of Manhattan, NY and James A. Augenti of Bridgewater. Grandfather of Matthew Augenti of Bridgewater. Brother of Louise Augenti of Brockton Albert Augenti of Braintree and the late Nicholas Augenti.

Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home Thursday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9 am. Burial in Mass National Cemetery, Bourne at 11 am. Visiting hours Wed. 4-8 pm. Obituary

Mr. Augenti died Saturday at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center, Brockton after a brief illness. He was the husband for 43 years of the late Carolyn L. (Vaslet) Augenti who died December 14, 2003.

He was born in Brockton son of the late Umberto and Annie (Principe) Augenti and remained a lifelong resident of the city. During the 1930’s he worked on the CCC and helped build the Quabbin Reservoir.

During WW II Mr. Augenti served in the US Army in the Pacific Theater. He fought in the battles of Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands and Luzon receiving the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.He retired as foreman in the side lasting department of Stride Rite Shoe in Boston after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of its Quarter Century Club.

Mr. Augenti was an avid outdoorsman and was a member of the Beaver Brook Beagle Club in East Bridgewater.

He had been a member of the former Ward Two Club.

Mr. Augenti had been a faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.In addition to the survivors listed above he also leaves several nieces and nephews.
