TEWKSBURY - Normand A. Fleury, age 76, died peacefully on Sunday morning, June 5, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Shirley A. (Lomas) Fleury, with whom he had celebrated a 56th wedding anniversary this past October 16th.
He was born in Fall River, MA, on April 11, 1935, one of three children of the late Francis F. and Rosilda (Maynard) Fleury, and was raised in Fall River. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted into the U.S. Coast Guard. He served aboard the USCG Duane during the Korean War, and continued his deployment into peacetime.
He was employed as a tool and die maker and retired from Varion Vacuum in Lexington.
He was a member of the Billerica Elks Lodge, 2071, and a member of the Billerica V.F.W.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four children and their spouses, Wayne R. Fleury of Tewksbury, Kim B. Andella and her husband Frederick of Tewksbury, Debra A. Lucas and her husband Gary of Wilmington, and Patricia A. Martin and her husband Richard of Merrimack, NH; a sister, Doris McGrath of Tyngsboro; ten grandchildren, Wayne R. Fleury Jr., Jonathan Fleury, and Joshua Fleury all of Lowell, Brenda McNee of Haverhill, Michael Andella and Christopher Andella both of Tewksbury, Kerry McCleod of Nashua, NH, Kristen Karabelas of Lowell, James Lucas of Lowell, Eric Nelson Jr. of Merrimack, NH; six great grandchildren, Brittany, Milena, Saidy, Wilson, Adam, and Kendra; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also brother of the late Robert Fleury.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, June 9, in St. Dorothy's Church, Wilmington. Burial with Coast Guard Honors followed at St. Mary Cemetery, No. Tewksbury. Memorials to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave., Suite 2, Norwood, MA 02062 will be appreciated.
