Mary E. (Hanlon) East, 79, of Medway died June 3 at her home under the loving care of her family, friends and hospice.
Born in Medway, July 1, 1931, the daughter of the late John R. and Mary (Kenney) Hanlon, she was a lifelong Medway resident.
A 1949 graduate of Medway High School, Mary had worked at the New England Telephone Company, Rosetti’s Restaurant, Valpey Fisher, Dennison Manufacturing and most recently at the Medway Country Manor where she recently retired.
Mary loved to travel to the West Coast, Cape Cod and Ireland. She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, Celtics and her local High School sports teams.
She is survived by her children, Mary “Mimi” East of Gilbert, AZ and Kathleen Hubbard, John R. East and his wife Darlene and Margaret Robinson and her husband Pierre, all of Medway.
She is also survived by her brother John R. Hanlon of Medway, and her brother-in-law Chester Lepak of Medway and her sister-in-law Judith Hanlon of Milford.
She was the sister of the late Peter J. Hanlon and Margaret Lepak.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Nicole LaLond and her husband Mark of Franklin, Rachel and Emily Hubbard of Medway, Justine East of Woonsocket, RI, Kaitlyn East of Brooklyn, NY, John Patrick East of Medway, Jaleesa Atkins of Gilbert, AZ, and her beloved great-grandson Logan LaLond of Franklin.
She is also survived by her close friend and caregiver Arlene Hall and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 8 from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway at 9:15 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
