Donald Robert Jobin, 72, of Manchester, died June 1, 2011 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Manchester September 10, 1938 to Robert and Lucienne (Bourassa) Jobin.
He attended Assumption Prep School and graduated from St. Anselm College in 1960. He received his Masters Degree in Administration from the University of New Hampshire.
He was a teacher in the Londonderry School District for 5 years before becoming the first principal of the North Londonderry Elementary School. He retired in 1997 after serving as principal for 30 years. While in Londonderry he received the Principal of the Year award for the State of New Hampshire.
After his retirement he enjoyed traveling, cruising, wintering and doing substitute teaching in Apache Junction, AZ for 10 years, and spending the summer at Salisbury State Reservation where he and his wife served as host campers for 25 years.
He leaves his wife of 50 years, Pauline (Chaput) Jobin of Manchester; four children, Daniel Jobin and his wife, Patricia, of Bedford, Lisa Jobin of Manchester, Judith LaPorte and her husband, Richard, of Sandown, and Marc Jobin and his wife, Kerry-Ann, of Bedford; five grandchildren; a sister, Gloria Pilotte of Manchester; a brother, Richard Jobin of Attleboro, MA; and an uncle, Henry Bourassa of Manchester.
After cremation, a Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday, June 4, 2011 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 172 Belmont St., Manchester, NH.
Following the mass, a celebration of his life was held at North Londonderry Elementary School, Sanborn Rd., Londonderry, NH
