Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Patricia J. (Sylvester) Elwell, 86, of McPherson Park, died Wednesday morning, June 1, 2011 at her granddaughter Tamara’s home, following an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Warren Elwell, who died in February of 2009. They had shared thirty-four years of marriage together.
Born in Gloucester on December 27, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Ike and Esther (Day) Sylvester.
A lifelong resident of Gloucester, she was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She also loved the Red Sox and was an avid knitter. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Margaret E. Young of Gloucester, Barbara J. and Michael Orlando of Galveston, TX, and Patricia A. and Carlton Macauley of Gloucester; six grandchildren, Tamara, wife of Jonathan Harmon, Ronda Peterson, Bridgetta, wife of Rick Hernandez, Brittney Orlando, Michael Macauley, Jennifer Macauley; eight great-grandchildren, Tayler, Joseph and Serena Lombardo, Autumn Harmon, Alyssa Peterson, Gabrielle Hernandez, and Miley and Owen Courtemanche. She was also predeceased by her sister, Shirley Frost, and brother, Arnold Sylvester.
In keeping with her wishes, services will be held privately. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
