Dade City, FL. Lucien E. Fecteau, 78, of San Antonio FL, died Saturday May 28, 2011, at HPH Hospice in Dade City, FL after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Frances M. (Pifer) Fecteau, with whom he had shared 49 years of marriage.

Lucien was born in Salem on April 28, 1933, the son of the late Andrew and Ida (Parent) Fecteau. While attending Salem High School, he served in the US Army National Guard at the Salem Armory. Upon graduation, he joined the US Air Force and began a lengthy military career. He was a radio operator, during the Korean conflict in Okinawa, Japan. While raising a young family, they were stationed in a variety of places across the country including: Eielson AFB near Fairbanks AK, Griffiss AFB in Rome NY, Langley AFB in Hampton VA, and ultimately Hanscom AFB, in Bedford MA. In the late 1950’s, Lucien served as Air Force ROTC Sergeant at Lowell Tech. He and his wife eventually returned to Salem and called it home for many years. Lucien served as Personnel Director, based at the Lynn Post Office, covering all North Shore branches. He pursued an Associates degree at Newbury College, while working full time. He was very proud of his accomplishments at the Post Office and retired in 1989.

Lucien was a devoted father and husband, always focused on providing the very best for his wife and six children. He was very proud of his strong work ethic and held several odd jobs beyond his full time employment to support his large family. One of his skills included carpentry and he took great pride in the family home renovations he completed over the years. He enjoyed hosting legendary cookouts by the pool for friends and family, every weekend in the summer. He was an avid golfer and baseball fan. Following his retirement, he kept active by working during the summers at Rowley Country Club as a starter and spent a couple of winters in Florida, working for the Florida Marlins spring training camp. Over the years, his interests included spending time with his loving family and friends, golfing, music and following the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Tampa Bay Rays.
