Obituary

Anna E. Vieira, 95, of Dartmouth died January 31, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Capt. Nicholas R. and Mary (Vieira) Vieira, she lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth for most of her life.

She was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church.

Miss Vieira was formerly employed as a teacher in the New Bedford School System for 32 years until her retirement.

She graduated from Eastern State Normal School in Castine, Maine and received her Bachelors degree and Masters degree in Education from Bridgewater State College. She served as a Red Cross nurses aide at St. Luke's Hospital during World War II. She was also a hospice volunteer for several years.

Survivors include a niece, Mary Jane Means of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; 2 great nephews, William H. King, and his wife Sara, of Rochester and Stephen J. King, and his wife Ana, of Longwood, Florida; a great-niece, Mary Beth King of New Bedford; and several great-great nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Flora Vieira, Nicholas Vieira, Capt. Joseph A. Vieira and Carolyn Vieira.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordTuesday, February 3rd at 10 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church at 11 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Visiting hours Monday, February 2nd from 4-8 PM.

Interment St. John's Cemetery.
