Philip J. O’Connor, 92, of Peabody, died Monday, May 30, 2011 in Beverly Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Cassandra O’Connor, with whom he shared 14 years of marriage, and the late Olga O’Connor, who passed away in 1993.
Born in Lynn on Feb. 1, 1919, he was the son of Edward and Mary O’Connor. He was raised and educated in Lynn and had been employed at the General Electric Riverworks plant for nearly forty years. He also had been employed for several years as a custodian at Fairweather Apartments in Danvers.
Mr. O’Connor was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses for 55 years.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons and their wives, Dennis and Marjorie O’Connor of Manchester, NH, and Philip and Barbara O’Connor Jr. of Texas, five grandchildren, Bethlee McLaughlin, Jessica Sadoway, Kerry Stagliano, and Mark and Brian O’Connor, 11 great-grandchildren, two brothers, James O’Connor of Swampscott and Alfred O’Connor of Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 1PM in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 79 Endicott St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are invited. As requested, there are no visiting hours and burial is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 79 Endicott St., Peabody, MA 01960. Arrangements are by C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, Danvers Square.
