Ida Ree Pittman Matthews, 85, of Abbeville, Georgia, died Friday, January 30, 2004, at Taylor Telfair Regional Hospital, McRae, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM, Sunday, February 1, 2004 at Lebanon Baptist Church, Wilcox County with Rev Chuck Taylor and Rev Talmadge Wilcox officiating. Interment will follow in Lebanon Cemetery, Wilcox County. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00 Saturday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Matthews was born August 1, 1918 in Darlington, South Carolina to the late Luther D. and Edna Mae Evitt Pittman. She was a homemaker, a member of Lebanon Baptist Church, a member of the Home Demonstration Club and looked after people in need. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Henry Leon Matthews and a daughter, Rita Cleo Matthews.
Survivors include: two daughters: Joan Brown of Warner Robins and Eleanor Ree Brown of Abbeville; three sons: Ralph Leon Matthews, Jr. of Milton, FL, John David Matthews of Freemont, CA, and Edwin Leo Matthews of San Jose, CA; 13 Grandchildren, 28 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great-Granddaughter.
