Obituary

Carmella “Millie” (Ruma) Fantasia, of Stoneham, died Friday at the Winchester Hospital. She was 98.

Millie was born and raised in Boston’s West End, the daughter of the late Santo and the late Rose (Amara) Ruma. Millie lived much of her life in Somerville. She worked as a seamstress throughout her life at Herman Geist Co. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Millie was a vibrant and fun lady who had many strong friendships in Somerville, Medford and Stoneham. She enjoyed travel and liked gambling. She took many trips to Las Vegas and to the Connecticut casinos. For many years she wintered in Ft. Lauderdale. She was devoted to her family.

The beloved wife of the late Samuel Fantasia, Millie was the devoted mother of Susan Brown of Medford, Marie Piccoli and her husband Anthony of Stoneham, the late Rosann Donato and William Fantasia. She was a devoted mother-in-law to Hon. Paul J. Donato of Medford. She leaves her loving grandchildren: Vincent, Joseph, William, Anthony, Michael, Michele, Anthony, Paul, Kim and 19 loving great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday from 4 through 8 PM and again on Wednesday morning at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central Street, Stoneham, at 9 AM. Services will conclude with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Roslindale.
