Gilbert Norfleet, Sr., 73, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus after years of illness on May 28, 2011. He was born November 21, 1937, in Stewart County. He was the oldest son of Henry Augustus and Virginia Nell Norfleet and the older brother of Joseph Norfleet, all deceased. Living siblings are Allen, Tennie, Edith, and Marie.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Norfleet. His children are Gilbert Norfleet, Jr., Pamela Mohon (Tim), Susan Pollard (Bill), and Larry Norfleet (deceased). Grandchildren are Beth Mohon, Sarah Carey, Faith Pollard, and Grace Pollard. Great-grandchildren are Sean Carey and Eliza Carey.
He was a member of the Church of Christ. Formerly a mechanic, he later worked in the timber and lumber business. He was very well known in his community and very well liked and respected by everyone. He liked everyone and loved to Bar-B-Que. He liked Bluegrass, Country, and Gospel music.

Pallbearers are Dr. Bill Pollard (son-in-law), Kevin Dorris (deacon), Roger Lewis (deacon) Robert Blaustein (elder), Robert Ragin (elder), and Charles Baker (elder).
Services will be Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at New Providence Church of Christ with Minister Thomas Lynch officiating. Visitation is a 1:00 p.m. with service at 2:00 p.m. He will be buried on family property which he purchased with his family and where he built his family home.
