Methuen, MA – Kathleen M. (Hanley) O’Connell, 69, died Thursday at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Lawrence, MA on February 13, 1942, Kathleen was the daughter of John F. and Margaret (Reilly) Hanley. Mrs. O’Connell had been a longtime resident of North Andover. She was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School in Lawrence, and she attended Merrimack College in North Andover.
For more than 30 years Kathleen was employed with the Internal Revenue Service in Andover before her retirement.
She enjoyed traveling, however, her children and grandchildren played a paramount part in her life.
Survivors include children: a son James and his wife Mary O’Connell of Westford, MA, daughter Nancy and her husband James Hannon of Somers, NY, and daughter Maura and her husband Eric Ammon of Salem, NH; siblings: one sister Patricia and her husband John Nightingale of Fort Fairfield, ME, and one brother William Hanley of Mantua, NJ; and six grandchildren: Thomas and Christopher Hannon, Kyle and Grace O’Connell, and Molly and Penelope Ammon.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock in Saint Michael’s Church in North Andover with interment to follow in Ridgewood Cemetery.
Friends will be warmly received on Tuesday from 4-8 P.M. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
