Obituary

Sheila Redmond-Alartosky, 70, a resident of Methuen, MA, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Methuen.

Born in Westfield, MA on March 6, 1941, Sheila was a graduate of St. Rita's Grammar and St. Mary's High Schools in Lawrence. She was the Owner and President of the Thomas F. Redmond Insurance Agency in Methuen for over 40 years. Sheila was a member of the Methuen, MA-Salem, NH Rotary Club from 1991 to present, serving as the club's first Woman President for the 1997/1998 Rotary year. She had also served on the club's Board of Directors, and received the Paul Harris Fellow award in 2000 in recognition for outstanding charitable and community service. Sheila was very active with the Special Olympics event that the club helps support every year. She would make up missed Rotary meetings while vacationing in Aruba, a place very special to her. Sheila served on the Methuen Board of Trade also serving as its first Woman President of which she was considered a role model for those that followed her. She had served on that Board's Board of Directors. Sheila was a past chairman of the Methuen Cancer Drive and was instrumental in many of Methuen's Christmas Parades.

Members of Sheila's family include:
her husband of 45 years: Mr. Robert Alartosky, a daughter: Patricia "Patti" Alartosky, a son: Robb Alartosky, grandchildren: Kate Bean and Michael Alartosky, an aunt: Mary Crawford, a sister-in-law: Elaine Eyssi, as well as several nieces, cousins, and close friends including Tricia Cyr.
Sheila's family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of both the Nevins Nursing Home and the Fresenius Dialysis Clinic in Methuen for the outstanding care that Sheila received.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 30, 2011 at 9:00 A.M. in St. Monica's Church, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen. Burial will take place at a later date. Family and friends may call on Sunday, May 29, 2011 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA.
