Obituary

FRANKLIN—Howard F. King, Jr., 82, of Franklin, died Wednesday May 25th, at the Milford Regional Medical Center following an illness. He was the husband of Anne M. (Sullivan) King, and the son of the late Howard F. King, Sr. and Margaret M. (Walsh) King.
Born in Framingham, December 13, 1928, he grew up in Maynard, and later moved to South Boston, and had been a Franklin resident since 1958.
He and his wife would have celebrated 61 years of marriage June 3.
He was a graduate of Boston English High School, and was president of his Freshman Class at Suffolk University.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served as a sergeant in the Combat Engineers.
He was employed at the Fore River Ship Yard, as a carpenter, building luxury liners, and later, changed careers. He was a manager for the Chrysler First Finance until his retirement in 1992. Previously, he served as manager for several loan companies.
He was an avid sports fan, and faithful to the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins, as well as a fan of local school sports.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by eight children and their spouses; Anne Marie Rhoads, and her husband Russel of Hilton Head, South Carolina, Kathy Jane King and her husband David Lorusso of Cedar Park, Texas, Howard F. King, lll, and his wife Diane of Cumberland, RI, James W. King and his wife Beth of Franklin, Patricia L. Derick and her husband, John of Franklin, Thomas C. King and his wife Lydia of Orlando, Florida, Shawn M. King, and his wife, Amy of Chico, California, and Cindy Hughes, and her husband, Christopher of Franklin, 15 grandchildren, and one great grandson.
In addition to his children, he is survived by a sister Dorothy Piekarski of Franklin.
He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Kay Zavatone and two brother's, Richard King and John King.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Tuesday May 31st, at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. FRANKLIN, www.oterifuneralhome.com, with a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church 1 Church Sq. at 10AM.
Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours are Monday from 4-8PM.
