Obituary

Marion Pickford Towler, 89, of 180 Easter Drive, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born June 15, 1921, he was the son of the late James Henry Towler and Ora Custer Towler. He was married to Katherine Bryant Towler, who survives him of the home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a stepson, Bryant Henson and wife, Catherine B. Henson, of Highpoint, NC, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; 15 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by five brothers, Percy Towler, Doug Towler, Aubrey Towler,Howard Towler and Clarence Towler, and three sisters, Lora Yeatts Reba Towler, and Amy Towler Stephens.

Mr. Towler was a member of Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church for many years. He had worked as a salesperson for Canada Produce. He had served his country as a member of the US Army serving in France and Okinawa during WWII.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. Raymond J. Lawton and Pastor Russell Mayhew officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens with military honors by the American Legion Dan River Post 1097. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
