Obituary

Robert A. Alves, 67, of Mattapoisertt died May 24, 2011 from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
He was the husband of Maria D. (Costa) Alves.
Born in Acushnet, the son of the late John D. and Maria (DeLuz) Alves, he lived in Mattapoisett all of his life.
Mr. Alves was an active communicant and usher at St. Anthony's Church.
He was formerly employed as a human resource manager at Titleist for over 42 years until his retirement in 2009.
Mr. Alves served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device 1960, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, 1 overseas Bar and the Combat Infantrymans Badge.

Survivors include his wife; his 4 children, Naomi of New Bedford, Aaron of Mississippi and Kerri and Nicholas, both of Mattapoisett; 2 brothers, Joseph Alves of Mattapoisett and Daniel Alves of Falmouth; 7 grandchildren, Alexis, Domnic, Ashlynn, Malik, Asiah, Isaiah and Anthony; his mother-in-law, Adelaide (Silva) Alves of New Bedford; his sister-in-law, Victoria Duarte of New Bedford; 3 aunts, Dominga Pina, Joanna DeLuz and Benvinda Lobo; an uncle, Manuel DeLuz; a Godson, Scott Costa; a niece and several cousins.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett Saturday, May 28th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Anthony's Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday, May 27th from 4-8 PM.
