George Leslie White of Water Valley, MS passed away Monday, May 23, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford at the age of 74. Born in 1936, he was the son of Leslie and Georgia Phillips White, and was baptized at an early age at Bayson Chapel M. B. Church in Sylva Rena. He worked with Carothers Construction,Inc. and had the opportunity to travel to many states. He later worked for The Brooks Farm and retired after 30 years.
Visitation is planned for Friday, May 27, 2011 from 5 until 7 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 1 PM at Bayson Chapel M. B. Church, with burial following in the church cemetery.
Mr. White is survived by his wife, Martha Louise Tyler White of Water Valley, MS; his mother, Georgia Phillips White; five daughters, Rozella Everett of Detroit, MI, Rosie Ann Minor (Bernard) of Water Valley, MS, Jackie Leann Dixson (Todd) of Southfield, MI, Marlene White Ragland (Lynn) of Water Valley, MS, and Martha Faye White (Clarence) of Water Valley, MS; six sons, Harry Phillips of Chicago, IL, Horace Jones of Arlington, VA, George Woodard of Memphis, TN, Morris E. White (Katherine) of Detroit, MI, Tommy L. White of Detroit, MI, and Bernard White (Shana) of Water Valley, MS; three sisters, Catherine Harvard (Cleopus) of Water Valley, MS, Melzina Franklin of Water Valley, MS, and Annie Clyde Miles of Oxford, MS, two brothers, John Wesley White of Chicago, IL, and Shelby White (Margaret) of Country Club Hill, IL, twenty seven grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two sons, George Leon White and Gerald Lynn White.
