Harlan A. Klepfer, 91, of Tifton died Monday, May 23, 2011, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Private services and burial will be held at a later date.
Mr. Klepfer was born on February 29, 1920 in Buffalo, New York and was the son of Matthew Klepfer and Eunice Eschelman Klepfer, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one brother. He was a retired auto dealer and a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps.
“Grandpa Harley” was inducted into the ABAC Athletics Hall of Fame as an avid supporter of the ABAC Tennis program and players. Since 1991, Harley has remained connected with many of the former players and stayed current on their life’s journeys including families and children.
Mr. Klepfer is survived by his wife, Lucy Bassett Klepfer of Tifton; three sons, Jim Klepfer of Cape Coral, Florida, John Klepfer of Buffalo, New York and Thomas Klepfer of Buffalo, New York; one daughter, Ann Huffman of Seattle, Washington; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
