Obituary

FRANKLIN—James Thornhill, Sr. 82, of Franklin, passed away peacefully at home Sunday May 22, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Lillian A. (Berghelli) Thornhill.
Born in Holliston, November 20, 1928 a son of the late James and Mary (Murray) Thornhill, he had been a longtime resident of Franklin.
Mr. Thornhill was raised and educated in Franklin, and was a retired home builder, his company Thornhill & Sons built many homes in Franklin and surrounding communities.
He enjoyed spending time in New Hampshire at “The Cabin” where he would hunt, and ride ATV’s. He treasured time spent with his family, playing cards, and attending church.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association, and was a former Deacon at the Sheldonville Baptist Church for over 30 years.
In addition to his wife of 64 years he is survived by a son; James Thornhill, Jr. and his wife Suzanne of Franklin, and a daughter Judy Dellorco of Blackstone.
One of 16 children, he is also survived by a brother; Leonard L. Thornhill of Franklin & a sister Mildred J. Gardner of Bellingham.
He was the proud grandfather of 7 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren.
Mr. Thornhill was the father of the late Lawrence L. Thornhill.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Thursday May 26th, at 10:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. FRANKLIN, www.oterifuneralhome.com, with a service in the Plainville Baptist Church 62 South St. RT1A, Plainville, MA 02762 at 11:30AM.
Interment will follow at the family lot in Union Street Cemetery, Franklin.
Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-8PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory sent to the Plainville Baptist Church 62 South St. Plainville, MA 02762 would be appreciated.
