Tommy “Gene” Thomas , 71, of Lawrence, died Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Colonial Heights Nursing home in Lawrence, MA following an extended illness.
Born in Tyler, Texas, son to James Wellington Thomas and Daskia Elizabeth Diviney. He is survived by his wife Sylvia Thomas, daughters Kim Cromer and husband Tad , Robin Rios and husband Samuel , Kimberle Collins and husband Steven , Sharon O’Neil and husband Joseph and 12 grandchildren.
A retired long haul trucker with Trism Tri State Trucking in Missouri. He also worked for the city of Lawrence. He was an avid fan of western films and novels. Not so secretly thought he was John Wayne. Gene had a groan inducing sense of humor that will be missed by all that were lucky enough to call him son, husband, father, grandfather and friend.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 26, 2011 evening at 8:00PM at the funeral home.
