Muriel L. Tessier, 82, formerly of Oak St., Manville, died Saturday evening at St. Antoine Residence in North Smithfield. She was the wife of the late George Tessier.
Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Sylvia (Tessier) Goyette. She was raised in Woonsocket and resided in Manville for over 45 years. She also lived at Riverview Apartments in Cumberland for several years before moving to St. Antoine Residence.
Mrs. Tessier was employed at AT Cross in Lincoln for many years and previously worked at Cadillac Textiles and Univis Frames.
Mrs. Tessier was a longtime communicant of St. James Church and was a member of the Good Sam Club, Riverview Tenants Assoc., and the AARP.
Muriel had an active retirement with adventures that included camping and snowmobiling trips and spending winters in Florida. Some of her favorite pastimes were playing bingo, cards, and cribbage. She was a talented cook and was gifted in crocheting. Family activities were at the center of Muriel’s life and she was faithful with keeping in close contact with relatives throughout Quebec.
Muriel will be remembered as being a devoted wife and mother. Her most favorite role in life was being memere to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a son Robert P. Tessier, and his wife Sherrie, and a daughter Rachel T. Savoie, and her husband Raymond, all of Manville, two grandchildren Matthew Langlois and Renee Garrahan, and four great-grandchildren, Courtney Garrahan, Jacob, Gavin, and Chloe Langlois. She was the sister of Cecile Tessier of North Smithfield and the late Rita Gapetz. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be Wednesday at 9:00 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 71 Central St., Manville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. James Church, Division St., Manville. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manville. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-8 pm.
