Obituary

Catherine Cohn "Cathy" Asher, of 250 Old Plantation Way, Fayetteville, Georgia died after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer on Friday, May 20, 2011 at home surrounded by family members.

Cathy was born July 30, 1954 in Norfolk, Virginia, daughter of the late William P. Cohn, Senior and the late Beryl Enholm Cohn. Cathy was married on June 2, 1996 to Mitchell (Mitch) Asher. She had one daughter, Veronica Early of California.

Cathy attended the University of New Mexico and was a highly skilled Marketing and Brand Development Professional. She held top level positions as Executive Vice President of Applause (Dakin/Wallace Berrie) in New Mexico, Colorado, Texas and California; Executive Vice President and Partner of International Tradewinds in California; Director of Marketing Research and Brand Development for FedEx/Kinko's in California. She worked as a Marketing Research and Brand Development Consultant in New York and Georgia.

Cathy loved history, reading and activities with her twin grandsons, Sky and River Wolf of California who came to visit Mitch and Cathy during school vacations and every summer. She took great pride and enjoyment watching them skate-boarding and water skiing. Cathy was eager to help others. When she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer last year she spoke at schools, colleges, women and church groups urging women of all ages to look for signs of the disease and offered guidance dealing with the side effects of the various treatments. Cathy had a wonderful sense of humor and was a fun-loving person.

Cathy is survived by her loving husband, Mitch Asher of Fayetteville, Georgia; his parents, Russell and Gayle Asher; Sister-in-law, Jennifer and niece, Tori; all of Ashland City, Tennessee; her daughter, Veronica Early of California, her beloved grandsons, River and Sky of California; brother, Richard A. Cohn and his wife Ellen and their daughter, Elizabeth of Alpharetta, Georgia; Step Mother, Joan Cohn of Old Mystic, Connecticut; and Cathy and Mitch's loyal and devoted dogs, Rocky, Maggie and Max.

Cathy was predeceased by her father, William P. Cohn, Sr.; her mother, Beryl Enholm Cohn; her older brothers William P. Cohn, Jr. and Robert Cohn.

A private service was held in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic, Connecticut. She was buried with her father and oldest brother William Jr. on Friday, May 27, 2011.
