Eleanor M. Jeffries, 93, of Derry, NH died Thursday May 19, 2011 in the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, Derry. Mrs. Jeffries was born in Port Chester, NY on August 19, 1917, a daughter of Carl and Mary (Burke) Olsen. She was raised and educated in Port Chester and had resided in Derry for several years, previously living in Lincoln, NH and Stamford, CT. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Derry where she was a member of the Tabernacle Society. She enjoyed gardening, reading and many types of crafts.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra A. Lockwood and her husband Paul of Londonderry, NH, two grandchildren, Justin Lockwood of Londonderry and Rebecca Lockwood, of Manchester, also several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Jeffries was predeceased by her husband, William M. Jeffries, Sr. in 1987 and also by her son, William M. Jeffries, Jr. in 1955.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday May 24, 2011 at 10:00 am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. Graveside services were held on Wednesday at 1:00 pm in Fairfield Memorial Park, Stamford, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her memory to the NH Audubon Society, 84 Silk Farm Rd., Concord, NH 03301.
