Isabel R. Ortiz, 68 of Derry, NH, died Thursday May 19, 2011 at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born July 3, 1942 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, and was a daughter of the late Carmelo and Mariana (Serrano) Rodriguez. She was raised and educated in Arecibo, moving to Londonderry in 1964. Isabel lived most of her life in the Derry area. Isabel was known as the "Family Mom", and provided care and a loving environment for her extended family of children and grandchildren. She loved to play bingo and dominoes, but her true love was cooking and caring for her cherished family.
Members of the family include her beloved spouse of 23 years, Radamis Rodriguez of Derry, her son and his wife Daniel Ortiz and Tara Ingalls of Windham, three grandchildren, Vito, Lola and Manny Ortiz, four sisters, Carmen Rodriguez of Puerto Rico, Elevteria Casanova of Lawrence, MA, Josepha Rosario of Puerto Rico, Delores Rosario of Puerto Rico, and Lucy Rosario & family of Lawrence, MA, nephews, Santos Crepso & Family, Raphael Crespo & Family, Alfredo Negron & family, Luis Negron & family, Jose Rodriguez & family, nieces, Sandra Negron-Olvera & family, Carmine Aponte of Riley, NC & Family, Iris Otero & family, Yvette Montalvo & family, Matra Rodriguez & family, Myrna Rivera & family, Idia Rivera & family, George Cusman & Family of Bedford, NH and many more relatives and close friends. The family would also like to thank her longtime Doctor, Dr. Theodore Brooks & the entire Derry Medical Staff, and Dr. Jeanna Walsh of Dana Farber Cancer Institute and her staff.
Calling hours were held on Saturday, May 21st from 3 to 5pm at Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. The burial was in Cementerio La Santa Cruz in Arecibo, Puerto Rico.
