Obituary

Dorothy A. (Burditt) Williams, a 33 year resident of Wakefield, died on Friday, May 20, 2011, at her home in Wakefield after a 16 year courageous battle with cancer. She was 59 years old.

Dorothy was born in Boston on December 10, 1951 to Edith (Mattaliano) Burditt and the late Carl B. Burditt of Holbrook. She grew up in Holbrook where she attended Holbrook Public Schools and graduated from Holbrook High School in 1969. She then furthered her education at Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston and graduated from there in 1971. Dorothy began working for the Federal Government as an Administrative Assistant with the Environmental Protective Agency where she worked for 10 years. For the last 25 years, Dorothy has been a Judicial Assistant for the Honorable Levin H. Campbell, Circuit Judge, United States Court of Appeals, First Circuit and retired only 2 weeks ago. Dorothy enjoyed knitting and reading, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her 5 grandchildren who she adored.

Dorothy is the beloved and loving wife of 33 years to William M. "Bill" Williams. She is the devoted mother of Jeanne Caraglia and her husband Joe of Georgetown, John Williams and his companion Nancy DiTullio of Wakefield and Julie Paiva and her husband Brian of Wakefield. She is the loving Grammy to Jessica, Matthew, Amanda, Katherine and Nicholas.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dorothy's Funeral on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 10 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Melrose/Wakefield line, followed by her Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main Street, Wakefield at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield. Visiting hours will be on Monday, May 23, 2011, from 3 to 8 p.m.
