Joseph H. Rezendes, age 94, of Somerset & formerly of Swansea, passed away May 18, 2011. He was the husband of the late Sadie (Silvia) Rezendes and the son of the late Antonio & Elizabeth (Ferreira) Rezendes. Prior to retiring, Joe worked as a Union Representative for the I.L.G.W.U. He served in the US Army during WW II as a Medic, a former member of the Elks Lodge of Fall River, Knights of Columbus of Swansea, I.L.G.W.U., and the Swansea Democratic Town Committee. He was also an avid card player and a former parishioner of St. John of God Church.
He was the father of Joseph A. Rezendes & Joan Golembewski both of Somerset, Jeffrey H. Rezendes of Swansea, Elizabeth LeComte of Tiverton, and the late Marie Llewellyn; the brother of Antone Rezendes & Catherine Ferreira both of Martha’s Vineyard, grandfather of 8, great grandfather of 3, and the uncle to several nieces & nephews.
His private funeral was held on Friday, May 20, 2011. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Somerset. Arrangements were under the direction of the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC.
