Clarence William Poindexter, age 78, died May 19, 2011 in Greensboro, NC.
Born Novmeber 4, 1932 in Danville, he was the son of the late Hardin Poindexter and Luna Belle Dobbs Poindexter. He worked as a self employed welder. He was married to Ann Hall, who predeceased him, and later to Bertha Poindexter. He was a veteran of the US Army. Mr. Poindexter also enjoyed gardening and flowers, he was a member of the NRA, and enjoyed researching genealogy and playing bluegrass music.
He is survived by three daughters: Diana Harlow and husband Tripp of Winston Salem, NC, Phyllis Hyler and Ronnie Wright of Greensboro, NC, and Kim Goins and husband Rick Goins of Eden, NC; one son: Joseph Poindexter of Los Angeles, CA; six grandchildren: Keith, Elizabeth, Scott, Christian, Chloe, and Helena; six sisters: Louise Rice, Betty Faber, Linda Davis, Alice Cox, Susan Doyle, and Angie Perry; and four brothers: Floyd Poindexter, Leon Poindexter, Frank Poindexter and Junior Poindexter.
Funeral services officiated by Pastor Ronnie Warner will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside at Lively Stones Baptist Church in Pelham, NC. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., and after the funeral, at the residence, 48 Bowes Road, Pelham, NC.
