Robert Lee Eanes, age 68, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at his residence, 232 Bertha Wilson Road, Blanch, NC.
Born September 9, 1942 in Danville, he was the son of the late John Walter Eanes and Rada Hensley Eanes. He attended George Washington High School, worked at Hanover Mills in Yanceyville for 10 years, and then at Dan River Mills for over 25 years. He was blessed with a wonderful wife of 47 years, Mary Jane Carmichael Eanes, whom he married on July 8, 1964, and who survives him. Mr. Eanes was a member of the New Testament Ekklesia Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Darrell Eanes and his wife Angela, Kenneth Eanes and his wife Melissa; one daughter: Teresa Eanes; four brothers: Wayne Eanes and his wife Dorothy, Freddie Eanes and his wife Joyce, Jimmie Eanes and his wife Karen, Ernest Eanes and his wife Nancy; eight grandchildren: Mark Eanes, Chris Eanes and his fiancée Sharee Cobb, Alex Eanes, Brandon Eanes, Heaven Eanes, Joey Taylor, Jack Taylor, Eleni Toufekias; one great-grandson: Logan Wyatt “squirrel” Eanes; two sisters-in-law: Nan Eanes, Shirley Caswell and her husband Charles; eight nephews; nine nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Glenn Elwood Eanes, and by one granddaughter, Brittany Eanes.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Mark Cobb will be held on Friday, May 20, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Schoolfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., and at other times, they will be at the residence, 232 Bertha Wilson Road, Blanch, NC.
