Obituary

Mr. Manuel J. “Manny” Raposo, age 43, of Melrose formerly of Woburn, passed away Wednesday at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston following a lengthy illness. Born in Cambridge he was the son of Shirley A. Janes of Stoneham and Edward Raposo Sr. of Billerica. Manny worked for many years as a truck driver and was most recently employed by the Central Steel Co. of Somerville. Manny was extremely devoted to his family and his hobbies included fishing, boating, shooting and he was also an avid model railroader. Mr. Raposo was a member of the Woburn Sportsman´s Assoc. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Manny´s memory tothe Kidney Cancer Research Fund Non Clear Renal Cell/ Manuel Raposo, c/o Michael B. Atkins, Beth Israel Deaconess Ctr. 330 Brookline Ave., KS-153 Boston, MA 02215.

In addition to his parents, Manny is survived by his life long love, Cynthia Goyette of Melrose, sisters; Carol Woods of Billerica, Margaret Dobie of Lancaster, Susan Shipka of Burlington and a brother, Edward Raposo Jr. of Wakefield. He is also survived by his nieces Rachel, Marlena, Ashley, Angela, Emily, Michelle and Madison and nephews Peter, George, Michael and Matthew.

Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Saturday at 9 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Church 280 Main St. Woburn, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
