Obituary

Plympton – Annette P. (White) Wheland 93, formerly a longtime resident of Whitman, passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Monday May 16 in the Jordan Hospital of Plymouth. She was the beloved wife of the late Gerald A. Wheland, Sr.

Born and raised in Rockland she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Gregoir) White and a graduate of Rockland High Class of 1935.

Annette had been a longtime employee of the Rockland Town Hall, having worked in both the Treasurer’s and Selectmen’s Office before retiring in 1943.

In 1960 she came out of retirement and began working as a teacher’s aide at the Conley School of Whitman, where she was well loved by both the staff and the students for over 20 years.

She was a longtime communicant of the Holy Ghost Church.

She became a talented artist and took great pride in her painting. She loved gardening, music, crocheting and especially the beach, lobster rolls and the Lighthouse Inn, but her greatest joy came in the time spent with her loving family.

Annette will be remembered as a gentle and kind women whose dignity, warmth, and open heart resonated outwardly to all who came to know her.

She is survived by her loving children Gerald A. Wheland, Jr. and his wife Linda of Halifax and Carol Beck and her husband Joseph of Plympton, and her grandchildren whom she adored Matthew A. Wheland of Groton, Ct., and Jeffrey J. Beck and Caitlin A. Beck both of Plympton. She was the sister of the late Ulric LeBlanc.

Her services will be held Thursday May 19 at 9:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 10 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday May 18 from 4-8 PM.
