Obituary

WASHINGTON...Lelia D. Rogers, 89, formerly of Washington, passed away at 10:35 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.
Lelia was born on January 31, 1922 in Bruce, Illinois to Fred and Nellie Sharp Sampson. She married William “Herbert” Rogers in Sullivan, Illinois on April 13, 1941. Herbert passed away on May 25, 1996 in Morton.
Among those surviving is one daughter, Judy Weaver of Washington; three sons, Jerry Rogers, Gary (Dixie) Rogers and Steven (Terry) Rogers, all of Washington; one sister, Ruth (Jim) Yates of Sullivan; one sister-in-law, Pauline Rogers of Normal; 17 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters and one grandson.
Lelia had worked as a CNA for nine years at Washington Nursing Home prior to her retirement.
She enjoyed for many years her ladies breakfast group that would meet at the old Washington Family Restaurant and later at the Tally-Ho. Lelia also had been a Cub Scout Den Mother while her son’s were in the Scouting program.
Lelia also had been a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church in Washington.
Funeral services for Lelia will be held on Thursday, May 19 at Mason-White Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Hauck officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to either her church or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
