Obituary

Pauline Elizabeth Ruggiero, of Stoughton, passed away on Tuesday March 8, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton. She was 90 years old.
Born October 31, 1920 in North Easton, Massachusetts, she was a daughter to the late Paul F. and Mary ( DeLuca ) Ruggiero. She moved to Stoughton in 1921 and as a child attended the former Adams Elementary School where she attained the title “Marble Champion”. After graduating Stoughton High School in 1939, Pauline attended The Morton School of Nursing in Taunton, Massachusetts and received her L.P.N. Degree. She worked for several area hospitals and eventually retired from The Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton.

Ms. Ruggiero also was also a graduate of the former Brockton Academy of Beauty. She became a Licensed Hairdresser and had worked for various local hair salons in the Stoughton area. Pauline was also a volunteer / advocate for Old Colony Elder Services in Brockton, Massachusetts.

She attended and was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. Pauline was a fraternal member of the Minerva Lodge, Daughters of Italy in Stoughton and the Stoughton Women’s Club. She was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan. She enjoyed dancing, listening to music and liked to engage in a good “ political discussion”. She was also a very charitable and generous individual who enjoyed the company of her family and friends.

Pauline is survived by her four sisters, Frances R. Ruggiero, Natalie I. Ruggiero, Virginia E. Schretlen all of Falmouth, MA, Helena A. Blum of Stoughton and her brother Charles J. Ruggiero also of Falmouth. Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Querino, Guido and James and sisters, Katherine B. Leahy and Marie M. Ruggiero who recently passed away on February 24, 2011.

A graveside funeral service will be held for both Pauline and her sister Marie on Saturday May 21, 2011 at 11 A.M. in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Old Colony Elder Services, 144 Main Street, Brockton, MA 02301 or if possible “ Perform an act of kindness “ in Pauline’s memory.
