Obituary

Joseph W. Zychowicz, 91, of Mattapoisett died May 15, 2011 at Forest View Nursing Home after a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Thelma M. (Tarvis) Zychowicz.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Albert and Veronica (Bugiel) Zychowicz, he lived in Mattapoisett for most of his life.
Mr. Zychowicz was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Mattapoisett.
He was formerly employed by U.S. Government for many years until his retirement.
Mr. Zychowicz served in the U.S. Army 3rd Army, 7th armored division during World War II. He was a member of the Florence Eastman American Legion Post 280.
Survivors include 3 sons, Joseph Zychowicz, Jr. and his wife Ruth of Brewster, Paul Zychowicz of Mattapoisett and Peter Zychowicz and his wife Sandra of Rochester; a daughter, Arlene Gramatikas of Manchester, NH; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was the grandfather of the late Scott Zychowicz.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett Thursday, May 19th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Anthony's Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
