Obituary

John M. Fahey, Sr., 74, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Friday, May 13. He was the beloved husband of 53 years of Mary I. (Silva) Fahey. Son of the late Thomas B. and Viola O. (Violette) Fahey, he was born and raised in Readville and graduated from St. Ann’s School and Hyde Park High School, Class of 1955. He was a resident of Stoughton for 53 years. John was in the U.S. National Guard for several years. He was the co-owner of Thomas B. Fahey & Sons fuel oil company in Readville. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 2095 in Canton. He enjoyed candlepin bowling, vacationing in Maine and spending time with his family. He was an avid Boston sports fan.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his sons, John M. Fahey, Jr. and his wife Janet and Michael S. Fahey all of Stoughton and Kevin B. Fahey and his wife Jessica of Fryeburg, ME. He was the brother of Rose Carroll and her husband John of Canton and Patricia Colleran and her husband Myles of Readville. He was pre-deceased by his brother Thomas B. Fahey, Jr. and his wife Laurette. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Saturday, May 21 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Friday from 5–8 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton. Donations in John’s name may be made to the Stoughton Visiting Nurses Assn., 10 Pearl St., Stoughton, MA 02072.
