Elliott T. Walsh, 83
New England Telephone Retiree


TEWKSBURY: Elliott T. Walsh, age 83, a resident of Tewksbury for 48 years, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 13, 2011 at home.
He was the beloved husband of Carol M. (Williamson) Walsh, who passed away on March 16, 2011.
Born in Lowell on February 20, 1928, he was the son of the late Thomas F. Walsh and the late Helen (Groves) Walsh.
Elliott was raised in Belmont and graduated from Cambridge Academy.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during World War II with the 4th Ordinance MM Company. He was awarded several decorations for his military service including the World War II Victory Medal and the Army Occupation Medal (Japan).
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a linemen by the New England Telephone Company.
Mr. Walsh was a member of the Tewksbury V.F.W. Post # 8164.
In earlier years, he enjoyed snowmobiling and was a member and past president of the former Kodiak Snowmobile Club of Tewksbury.
He is survived by one son, Avery Lively of Pembroke; one brother, Adam Walsh of Rhode Island; five grandchildren, Sherry Gardner, Shannon Lively, Douglas Lively and his wife Patty, Richard Lively and Ryan Lively.
Mr. Walsh was the father of the late Gail A. Walsh, grandfather of the late Renee Taylor, brother of the late George Walsh and father-in-law of the late Elaine Lively.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, May 18, from 10-11 a.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, followed by committal prayers to be offered at 11:30 a.m., in the Chapel at St. Mary Cemetery, 90 River Road, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
