Mrs. Dorothy Marie Jessup, age 81, of Pilot Mountain, passed away Friday, May 13, 2011 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born July 9, 1929 in Surry County to the late Posey Lee and Nannie Mae Jester Whittington. She was retired from Fit-All Sportswear and was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Jessup is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Josh Christian, of Pilot Mountain; three grandchildren, Derek, Alicia, and Danielle, all of Pilot Mountain; one sister, Gracie Lee Gibson. Mrs. Jessup was preceded in death by her husband, John Lewis Jessup, her parents, two brothers, Kenneth D. Whittington, and Posey Whittington, Jr. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Church at 3:00 P.M. at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Chamblin officiating with interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. prior to the service.
