Worcester - Mr. Arthur J. Vangel, 74, passed away Wednesday May 11th at UMass Memorial Hospital.
Arthur is survived by a son, Lance Vangel and his wife Tina of Maine, a daughter, Linda Little and her husband James of Worcester; a sister, Anna McGeary and her husband Michael of Holland, Ma.; his girlfriend, Ruth Grajales of Worcester; also grandchildren, Anthony, James III, Peter, Kamai, Brooke, Destiny, Marquise, Ethan and Madison; and nephews, Vic and Bo.
Arthur was pre-deceased by his brother George.
He was born January 20, 1937 in Worcester, Massachusetts a son of the late Nicholas and Nellie(Hajjar) Vangel. Husband to the late Theresa (Minardi) Vangel.
A lifelong resident of Worcester, Arthur was a graduate of Commerce High School. He served in the National Guard for many years.
Arthur was passionate about food, and began his career as a dietician. He worked first as the Department Head of Food Services at Grafton State Hospital then for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Glavin Irving Regional Center in Shrewsbury for over thirty-five years in both positions. He most recently work part-time at the Worcester County Food Bank.
He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, the Greendale Men’s Club, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Arthur was an avid weekly golfer. He enjoyed the love of food and cooking for his family during the holidays.
His funeral will be held Monday May 16th from FAZIO FUNERAL HOME, 9 Branch St. Worcester with a Funeral Service at 10a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Worcester. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2pm to 5pm.
