Betty Geneva Wood Arrington, 79, of Tifton died Friday, May 13, 2011, in Lakeland Hills Center in Lakeland, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Wayne Driskell will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 16, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Arrington was born on October 15, 1931 in Post, Texas and was the daughter of Carl Jesse Wood and Eva Davis Wood, both deceased. She was also preceded in the death by her husband, Hulon Arrington, Jr.; one daughter, Sandra Baxley; two brothers, R. Q. Wood and Eugene Wood; and one sister, Jeannette Conway. She was a homemaker and a member of Unity Baptist Church in Tifton and had lived most of her life in Tifton.
Mrs. Arrington is survived by three sons, William Hulon Arrington of Lakeland, Florida, Virgil Steve Arrington of Mitchell and Charles Glynn Arrington of Tifton; one brother, Neil Wood of Waycross; two sisters, Thelma Jane Nolan of Jacksonville, Florida and Jackie Lane of Worth County; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
