Whitman – David L. Jewers 60 died Wednesday May 11 in his home surrounded by his family after a brave battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of 23 years to Donna J. (Harrison) Jewers.
Born in Cambridge and raised in Dorchester and Somerville he was the son of the late James H. and Laura (Belbin) Jewers and a graduate of Charlestown High.
He had been a resident of Whitman for 23 years and had worked as a Union Electrician. He was a proud member of the Electrical Workers Union - IBEW 103.
David was a very talented and artistic person, and enjoyed the challenge of restoring and working vehicles of all kinds.
In addition to his wife Donna, he is survived by his children Edward Jewers of Whitman, Caitlin Jewers of Middleboro, Pamela Jewers of Taunton, Moses Berry of SC, David Jewers of Tyngsboro, and Kathleen Petkiewich of NH, his brother James Dennis Jewers of RI, and his sisters Joy Fowler of AZ, Sandra Goodfellow of FL and Laura Jewers of Hull, as well as eight grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late William Jewers.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours to be held Saturday May 14 from 4-8 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. By request of the family all others services are private.
