Obituary

Wladyslawa J. (Gustowski) Wawrzak, 94, died Sunday, May 8, 2011 at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing Home in Stoughton, where she was a resident for the last 4 years. She was the wife of the late Roman Wawrzak. Born in Hyde Park in 1917, she was raised in Boston until age 9. At age 9, she moved to Poland and lived there until 1981, when she moved back to the United States and settled in Dorchester Lower Mills. Mrs. Wawrzak was a resident of Dorchester until 4 years ago, when she became a resident of Copley at Stoughton Nursing Home. She worked as a seamstress. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church for several years and a member of the St. Ann’s Polish Women’s Club and the Ladies Auxiliary Corps, Post 37 SWAT, all in South Boston. In her free time, she enjoyed playing chess, cards and bingo and doing needlepoint, crocheting and quilting.
She is survived by her children; Adam Gustowski and his wife Maria, Danuta Pryka and her husband Krzysztof and Jozef Wawrzak and his wife Zofia all of Stoughton, Henryka Nowakowski and her husband Andrzej of Easton and Krzysztof Wawrzak and his wife Maria of Poland. She was the sister of Henrietta Manak of Stoughton and Helena Golabek-Wisniewski of Quincy and the late Aleksandra Zaborowski and John Gustowski. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Thursday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Wednesday from 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
