Obituary

Raymond W. Watson, Sr., 79, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, May 10, 2011. He leaves his wife of 59 years, Gloria (Mercurio) Watson; three sons, Raymond W. Watson, Jr., Richard W. Watson, Sr. and his wife Shari, and Joseph Watson and his wife Mireya; two daughters, Gloria Jean Poulin (widow of Jacques Poulin) and Karen McCoy,; two brothers and two sisters, including Gloria Weatherbee, who has been a great and loving caretaker. He also leaves several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was born in Holden, son of Ruth Estelle (Richardson) and Albert Cardwell, Sr. He enlisted in the Army in 1952 and was a decorated veteran of the Korean War and recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a machinist and worked at Worcester Controls and TBZ Valve companies. He was a past member of the American Legion. Ray loved camping, spending time with family, and being in the company of many good friends. He was loved by everyone.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, May 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
