TEWKSBURY - Gloria Antoinette Jones, age 83, an active member at St. William's Parish in Tewksbury, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening, May 10, at Saint's Medical Center in Lowell, with her family at her side. She was the beloved wife of Paul Bryant Jones, with whom she had celebrated a 60th wedding anniversary this past April 8th.
She was born in Everett, March 26, 1928, one of twelve children of the late Angelo and Rose (Qualino) Verdi. She was raised in Malden, and graduated from Malden High School. She moved to Tewksbury in 1973, and worked as an assembler at Wang Laboratories, North Street facility.
She was communicant of St. William's Church, and served as a CCD teacher for the parish for over 12 years.
Along with her husband, she enjoyed extensive travel throughout the United States during her lifetime.
She is survived by two sons, Paul M. Jones of Tewksbury and Stephen M. Jones of Fitchburg; a grandson, Robert Brian Jones of Fitchburg; two sisters, Ann McGray of Salem, Constance Armitage of S. Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also sister of the late Rose Indorato, Lucille Florentine, Elizabeth Barressi, Jenny Cutone, Louise Chase, June Risano, Margaret LaRussa, Frederick Verdi and Anthony Verdi.
A Memorial Prayer Service was held Tuesday evening in the funeral home. Interment was held at St. Mary Cemetery, No. Tewksbury on Wednesday, May 18.
