WORCESTER-Dorothy “Dolly” (Sundstrom) Johnson, 89, of Worcester died Monday, May 9th in the Life Care Center of Auburn. Her husband, Russell C. Johnson, Sr. died in 1981. She leaves a son, George V. Johnson of Worcester; a daughter, Virginia Johnson-Sears of Oxford; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Russell C. Johnson, Jr. in 2006, a brother, John Sundstrom and four sisters, Hazel Washburn, Ernestine Steele, Mary Sundstrom and Frances Sullivan.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Ernest and Alice (Henry) Sundstrom. Dolly was a member of St. Peter’s Church and graduated from the Former High School of Commerce and St. Gabriel Studio of Music in Worcester. She was a soloist for many area churches, including Sacred Heart and St. Joan of Arc. Dolly was a volunteer and a caretaker her whole life and spent 12 years delivering meals on wheels to 1060 Main Street.
The funeral is Friday, May 13th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Thursday, May 12th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
