Major Harold D. Jacob
U.S. Army (Ret)

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Friday, May 6, 2011 at the V.A. Hospital, Harold D. Jacob, 87, husband of the late Betty L. Jacob.

Mr. Jacob, a native of Chicago, IL, lived in Augusta since 1973. He retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service. Mr. Jacob served in World War II with the 325th Glider Infantry of the 82nd Airborne Division. He also served in the Korean War with the 101st Signal Brigade and served in LAO with the Military Advisory Group.

Military decorations include 2 Bronze Star Army Commendation Medals, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Glider badge, Presidential Unit Citations, Belgium Fourq, Orange Lanyard (Netherlands) plus numerous other decorations.

Mr. Jacob was a life time member of the Retired Officers Association in Washington D.C. and a member of the local TROA. He was a charter member of the Retired Military Golf Association and the TROA Golf Association. He was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. His faith and love for God Country and family was unwavering.

Family members include son: Harold D. Jacob, Jr.; daughter: Virginia A. Bergan; sisters: Ardythe Kowalinski, Sadonna Ryan; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at Westover Memorial Park with Chaplain Will Everett officiating.
