Ephraim R. Jeffries, 82 of Port Orange, FL died April 6, 2011 at home. He was the husband of Maureen (Walsh) Jeffries for 59 years.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Ephraim and Margaret (Heron) Jeffries. He was employed at Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech High School for many years before relocating to Florida.
He proudly served in World War II as a member of the United States Navy. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Parish in Port Orange, where he served as an usher for many years.
He is survived by four children, Patricia A. Zukowski and her husband Robert of Dartmouth, Mark R. Jeffries and his wife Catherine of Dartmouth, Matthew Jeffries and his wife Susan of Port Orange, and John D. Jeffries and his wife Lee Erin of Dover.
He is also survived by ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and three sisters-in-law.
He was the brother of the late William Jeffries, Edward Jeffries, Eileen Frates, and Mary Stening.
His greatest joy was being the #1 fan at all sporting events involving his grandchildren.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, May 16, 2011 at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth. A private burial will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery. His family will receive visitors at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford on Sunday May 15, 2011 from 6-8 PM.
