Obituary

Mr. John Carson Fulp, age 85, of Danbury, went home to be with the lord after an extended illness on Wednesday, May 4, 2011. Mr. Fulp was a native of Stokes County and served as a Deacon at Isom Baptist Church for many years. Mr. Fulp is a retiree from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and was a tobacco and cattle farmer. Mr. Fulp is survived by his loving wife, Carrie Elizabeth Lawson Fulp of 66 years; children, Johnnie “Joe” Fulp (Mary) of Danbury, Martha Ann Hill (James Garland) of Walnut Cove, Mitchell Ravon Fulp (Sherry) of Danbury and Stevie Lee Fulp Sr. of Danbury; brothers, Allie Ray Fulp (Vernell) of Danbury and William “Jabo” Fulp (Ardina) of Danbury; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Mr. Fulp was preceded in death by his parents, James Edgar and Cattie Bullins Fulp; two grandchildren, Katherine Elizabeth Fulp and Stevie Lee Fulp, Jr.; one great-grandchild, Victoria Lynn Slate; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Wilmoth Fulp; one sister, Nancy Fulp Whitt; two brothers, James Otis and Silas Fulp. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Isom Baptist Church in Walnut Cove with Bro. Chester Montgomery, Pastor Wayne Marion and Bro. Jack Anderson officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 6, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Needham Chapel in Pilot Mountain. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Stokes County, 1570 NC 8 and 89 N, Danbury, NC 27106. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Karen Cross and to the nurses, Brittany, Marla and Miranda.
