TAUNTON – Joseph Yankow, husband of the late Leolinda “Della” (Camacho) Yankow, died at Morton Hospital & Medical Center on May 5, 2011, after a short illness.
He was 87.
Born in Olyphant, PA and educated in Pennsylvania schools, he was the son of the late Leon and Mary (Gamble) Yankow.
He came to Taunton many years ago. He was employed by Texas Instuments as a plumber for over forty years before retiring at the age of 62.
Mr. Yankow was an avid gardener and was also an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He enjoyed dancing to polkas and listening to Portuguese music. Mr.Yankow was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church.
He leaves a sister, Rose (Yankow) Smith of Taunton; four godchildren, Gregory Camacho and Chase Ferry, both of Taunton, and Shelby and Victoria Ferry of Swansea; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late John, Nicholas, Michael, and George Yankow, and the late Anna (Yankow) Bisio and Irene (Yankow) Standard.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Monday, May 9th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony’s Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, May 8th from 4 to 7 p.m.
