Obituary

Edelstein, Arnold, 94 of Winthrop and formerly of Chelsea passed away on May 4, 2011 at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Arnold was a resident of Winthrop for 57 years. Arnold was born and raised in Chelsea. He attended the Chelsea School System and was a Chelsea High School graduate, Class of 1934. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University Class of 1941. Arnold was a postal clerk at the South Postal Annex. Arnold was a proud WWII United States Army veteran. He was a member of the American Leigon Post in Winthrop, MA. He was a very avid fan of all Boston sports teams. Arnold was an avid gardener and green thumb.

Arnold was the beloved husband of the late Leatrice Edelstein. He was the devoted father of J. David Edelstein and his fiancé Lynn Bruno, Stephen Edelstein and his partner Joyce Atkinson and Joel Edelstein and his wife Lori Rosenberg. He was the dear brother of Selma Sherman, the late Irving (Memo) Edelstein and the late Charlotte Gantman. He was also the loving grandfather of AJ, James, Jaclyn, Sophie, Lucy and Tamerat George.

Services at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave., Cary Sq., Chelsea on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 11:30 AM. Interment in Lynn. Memorial observance will be held at his late residence, Sunday 12:00 noon until 5:00 PM. Donations in Arnold’s memory may be made to Susan G.
